Today marks 90 days since I last visited my office. I have been spending majority of my time, working remotely in this small corner. Yes- I was really lucky to have my own space and all the equipment I needed to work (thanks to Pfizer!). It really made a difference and made me feel effective.
I have never felt more connected with my team, my peers, my boss and other colleagues in the company. And I believe we have achieved significantly more, while responding to the suddenly changing needs of our business and the commercial organization as well as preparing ourselves to the re-imagine stage post Covid-19.
While the new work set up made me feel much more connected, there were many days that I felt overwhelmed with the intensity and the length of my work days. The other down-side is missing the office environment, morning small talks, coffee-catch ups, our after lunch team walks in Potsdamer Platz area and many more that I cannot do virtually.
On the other hand I also never had such a good work-life balance since many years. With the time saved from travels, commuting and non-productive face to face meetings etc, I was able to invest time for personal development, reading books that I delayed, doing morning outdoor sports and spending quality time with my family. I must admit that I am not missing airplanes and airports!
Getting back to the new normal will be interesting and I am very much looking forward to it!
